The Sacrament of Marriage

In order to help couples prepare for the celebration of a life long marriage commitment, the Catholic Church requires all engaged couples to participate in a process of instruction and formation.

The following are procedures which will help couples prepare for their marriage celebration at St. Cyril of Alexandria.

At least nine (9) months before the tentative wedding date, couples should come into the parish office or the hospitality desk in the church. to register to attend a  Pre-Marriage Introductory Class. (This will allow sufficient time for preparation, not only for the wedding celebration, which will last a short time, but also for the marriage, which will last a lifetime.)  A completed Marriage Request Form and $50.00 registration fee is required at the time of registration.

The second part of your preparation is a session with the Marriage Formation Director. A wedding date may not be scheduled until this session.

The Catholic Church requires all engaged couples to participate in a process of instruction and formation. The third part of your primary preparation consists of either Engaged Encounter Weekend, One Day Engaged Couples Retreat or four sessions with a Sponsor Couple.  The type of instruction and formation is selected at your session with the Marriage Formation Director.

Contact Carmen Arrambide, 713.789.1250 ext 235, at least 9 months before your wedding day. She will have more information about these or any other requirements.
